Title: Can I set Mach3 to be a readout for K axis
Post by: alloy on March 01, 2015, 09:46:38 PM
I'm working on retrofitting a Shizouka AN-S mill using Mach3 and a DSMPC controller.  I will eventually have a 4th axis on it.

I'd like to put a scale on my knee and use Mach 3 as a readout for K with no motion control on that axis.

Is this possible?

Never used the DSPMC so not 100% sure but I would think you could.
With the CSMIO controller I use on the Chiron I have a glass scale connected into the encoder module of it and have that writing to a User DRO in Mach, I use it for my tool length setter.
If the Inputs on the DSPMC are fast enough then you should be able to do the same.

Well change of plans.

I called Vital systems and they were 2-4 weeks out from shipping the controller.

So I got looking around on Ebay and found this for $900.  He was local to me and I picked it up tonight.

My friend said I stole it and I should go buy a lotto ticket and quit my job.  I looked it up and the retail is $3200 :o
