Title: HELP with new XP machine
Post by: laheyth on February 13, 2015, 09:06:04 PM
I have been using a licensed verison of Mach 3 for about 2 yr.
My Vista box died, so I found an XP machine with a parallel port.
Loaded the software, ran the driver.exe....all is fine
When I powerup I hear 2 or 3 spurious pulses to the motors, so I know the steppers are fine.
I have set the ports and pins.
Set up estop again.
copied the XML file into the mach 3 directory.
I HAVE NO STEPPERS MOVEMENT
parallel port is the default address
I can use JOG, the DRO's move , but no stepper pulses.
NEED SOME ADVICE...
keep in mind , all I did was unplug my parallel port and plug it into the new machine, after loading software....dont have any stepper hardware issues.

Double check in device manager that the port address is correct.

You could test directly at the computers port with a volt meter on the Dir pins to see if the state changes when youjog one way then the other.

I found I had to set the port assignment, under ports and pins.....
I would think this would be saved in the XML file, but apparently ther is some issue.
It is running again
