Just received a CNC 6040z 4s mill and what little instructions I have found it is suggested to use a rust inhibitor in the water. Wondered if antifreeze would work for this and what percentage if it does or if there is another product anyone would recommend to use.
I am also planning to use distilled water but was wondering if this was necessary.
Thanks.

I am awaiting for my 6040z to arrive. Wish i could help answer this question, but I can't. I just wanted to follow the conversation so i can also know the answer when it is provided.

If it’s any help…
I Have been using closed loop water cooling systems for some years now and can confirm that a 30% concentration of (vehicle) antifreeze and distilled water works well for cooling, preventing corrosion (radiator, pump & fittings), sub-zero freezing and preventing organic growth within the tubing. (Take care with the antifreeze though, many types are toxic – especially to animals).
Tweakie.

I have auto radiator additive in my spindle at about 20% ratio.
I don't have any chance of the coolant freezing, so just went with the corrosion inhibitor.
Our normal drinking water is very good, so didn't bother with distilled water and haven't noticed any ill effects.

What type / brand of corrosion inhibitor? Thanks

I use the corrosion inhibitor made by "TECTALOY" and it's called "XTRA COOL".
Product # TEX500, 500ml treats 10L of coolant.
