Title: Rotary axis question
Post by: dfurlano on April 09, 2007, 08:14:56 PM
I understand the right hand rule for X,Y and Z.  But if I am stand behind the A rotary axis would clockwise be positive?

Thanks

Dan.

Hi Dan,

Normally yes.

But people do have them the other way too. Its always a grey area when sharing g-code, they make mirrors of your parts, so it always pays to put a note in the g-code to tell them which way is plus for the program.

Thanks Graham...

Well I tried a new piece of software that did some engraving on a band and the text is coming out inverted (mirrored). The only thing I can think of is the rotary axis is turning the wrong direction.

And in fact I never looked but I also would believe (guess) that the positive direction would turn the table so that the degree markings on the table would be increasing 0-360 and negative would be decreasing 360-0 values.
