Title: Will this work for metal?

This little machine is supposed to be for "Milling". Would it be possible to use this for making things like gantry ends and other relatively small parts out of aluminum or aluminum alloy?

Nevermind. I saw a couple on YOutube and they were cutting aluminum with an 800w spindle.

I have some more CNC machines I want to build including a servo powered router, hotwire machine, and a laser. I can design all my vector files in my Sign program, import them into Aspire to 3D them and generate G-Code for Mach3. I already have my Hotwire machine controller working with Mach3, but need some aluminum parts for the linear guide system.

late to the party, but the simple answer is yes, it will "CUT" metal...... to what degree and percision?  CRAP!  I have one and its a flimsy frame design at best.  I have not done much with mine yet but re-work it.  TRUST ME when I can say I can flex the gantry back and forth with mild hand pressure.  To work even aluminum you would have to take very light cuts.  Any resistance on the spindle and well......... 

Its major faults are the shafts that it all rides on, they are unsuported and flex.  In all axis.
