I don't know if this is your problem or not, just starting to play with Lazycam a little. Is Lcam installed on your C drive? If not, move it to C and see if that helps. Let us know.

Some DXF's  will not open in Lcam... and I wish I could tell you why :( We have an OCX that we use to get the DXF and we can't edit the code.. We are looking for a new one but it is a BIG job to change it

Thanks
Brian

Just got back to Mach2/3 after three years and tried LazyCam. Having EXACTLY the same problem, and getting the same message however simple a DXF is imported. Something is fundamentally wrong here.  If it will help, I have full DevcStudio installed for any debugging I can help with, and would REALLY like to het this working for a simple 2D milling job

Is there a test .dxf that can be downloaded to eliminate that issue?

We have the NEW code to open DXF's in Lcam now  :o

There is a small error with Arcs that we are working on... we have tested it and we can now open every dxf that would could not open in the past !!!!!!!!!!!!!

So it is looking better!

Thanks
Brian

Brian,

Done some more investigation: I was strying the free-standing download of Lazycam as I didn't want Mach3 installed on this particular machine.  Downloaded and installed a full Mach3 build (with Lazycam) and lasycam now loads sample files.  This needs to be flagged to new users!!!

Is the new version available for beta testing?

Thx

Colin

Hi Brian,, dxf  files will not open in LCam 2.02 when saved using bobcad V2007 as dxf,, re save dxf with bobcad ver.20 or 21 then it loads into Lcam.???

This may not be any help in this case, but for me, all my problems loading dxf files in LCAM went away when I made sure the same file wasn't open in my CAD program. Just thought I'd mention that because it is one thing that can stop a file from loading.

Hi  all,  yes the file opens in most other cad programs, but will not open in Lcam saved from bobcad Ver.2007, if opened and saved from another program even bobcad ver.21 or lower , to 20 ,  then it will open in Lcam,,  a dxf saved from bobcad ver 2007 will not open in Lcam,  you cannot save a dxf in 2007 unless you have a dongle for the program, i have one,  the dxf will open in Lcam saved with most other programs, and also will open lin Lcam when resaved with bobcad v 20,21, and turbo cad V 12 or lower, and other cad programs,  my question is  why not open in Lcam when saved from bobcad ver. 2007 , this is for Art  and Brian,, ??
thanks for all replys,    regards : Bob

It is odd that I am not having a problem opening the file... Chip also can't open the file... If I send it to Art I think he will be able to open it :( This is when the black magic comes out and we may have to do a file open dance to find the problem :( I hate when I have to start dancing! I am no good at it!

We will see what we can find...
thanks
Brian

Hi Brian,, you will get good at dancing    lol ,   the dxf only when saved from bobcad ver2007 will not open in lcam,  if opened with and saved from another cad program is ok then.  My problem is more with bobcad,   they say it does not work either, I thought i would run it thru you guys  for a try,  i can import  the v2007 dxf into another cad , and just resave it and it works in Lcam. I am not stuck without options, i just wanted to know if it was possible to use bobcad V2007  dxf's and directly have Lcam  import it, i can resave the dxf in another program then it works fine,  is a long way around of doing things,
Dancing is not that bad either :-) ,,

Can you post the file again to be sure that I have one that was made with bobcad 2007? I would like to get this fixed :)

Hi, ok seemed to work for you,  did you import it into another cad program first and resave it,, or directly into Lcam,   if you imported directly into Lcam, can i ask what other settings i would have to make to see it, the bobcad people also said  v2007 would not import into Lcam,  if i import a dxf into another cad and resave it , it works,  ???
