Title: First Build Jos 2006r2 with some mods
Post by: cnctom on December 02, 2014, 08:36:34 PM
Hello last winter I started building a Jos 2006R2 for my first cnc build. I've got back to work on my project again because its winter again :(  I just got done ordering the Gecko G540 3 Nema23 Steppers 620 oz/in with Mach3 included I just got done dealing with the seller and now an going with Mach4 upgrade. I'm also bought Antek PS-4N48 - 400W 48V Power Supply. Also the three 1610 Ball screws and 16MM Bearing Block linear slide guides 2 rail+4 SBR16UU for the Z axis and nema 23 mounts brackets. Expensive evening. I used turned ground and polished 1045 shafting instead of black pipe for a smoother run. I also milled up solid bearing carriers it was a lot of drilling and tapping and grinding but it was good fun.

That's a nice looking machine..... What kind of wood did you use. How long did it take to build. Looks like it took you a year.

GooooooooooooooooD  JOB

Hello again more stuff came in this week Ball screws, Antek PS-4N48 - 400W 48V Power Supply 16mm linear rails with bearings, Gecko G540 and my steppers :) My wife and kids are saying Christmas came early and every day for a week for dad. So now let me give you some background Ive been a machinist sine 1997 building molds great fun for the last ten of those years Ive been programming, with Mastercam and Powershape , Powermill by the way if Powermill and Mastercam would get together there would be no other software just my opinion  ;D   I also Love building stuff and tying to do it right, My my most resent project was a snow blower which I sold to fund this project http://vid1314.photobucket.com/albums/t571/dieseltom/2013-02-09_12-22-35_625_zps67b0bfdb.mp4

Last weekend I was not happy with the lower brace is was springy so i built one out of aluminum no spring any more

Well today I started in on my ballscrews the bearing blocks the ones i got from ebay didn't work for me so I designed some that would hold bearings and stepper motors all together and look nice it was time to break out the Kearney Trecker Dividing Head   tomorrow i have to finish them up
