Title: Wiring IP-S outputs - Switched 0V side ? howto

Can anyone here help on howto switch the 0V side for outputs on IP-S controller ?


I am trying to get the IP-S to send a servo-on signal, to enable the servo.

This goes to PIN21 on the servo drive.

Servo works fine, step/dir and inputs for servo-alarm, servo-arrive etc.
The difficulty is that the servo drive inputs are on the 0V side, not the +24V side.

Wiring with a mechanical switch works, like this picture.

Hello,

there are two possibilities:

1. if you want to use more than the ENABLE Input (Reset Alm) you have to put 24VDC Relays to the outputs
from the IP-S an use the contacts like you have shown in yor second drawing.

2. if you want to use only the ENABLE Input connect to Pin8/20 , connect Pin9 to 0V and put a 10k resistor
between both.

I thought it unfortunately might be a relay needed..

How did you get to the 10K value of the resistor, please ?
I am trying to understand this, so that I can do proper docs, and not be asking silly questions.

Any hints on suitable relays ?
Once I have one working, sourcing similar ones will be easier.

Hello,

the 10k resistor is only to pull down the CS-Lab output to 0V.

for the relays i normaly take standard 24VDC industrial relays like this:

easy to connect, easy to fit and working in thousands applications.

by the way this was worng in my 1st reply:

should be:

I did a schematic with the enable only (I will use relays if needed).

One sanity check.
To enable the servo, its pin 21, Servo On Input pin 21 that must be one (not pin 9).
I think you mistook the sevrvo on for pin9, maybe ?.)

So... the resistor goes from to the IP-S Output (Output 0 for test case, here) to the pins 8/20 ?

Is this the right way to do this.

Or from DC0 V to pin 9 ?
Or both Output0 to 8/20 and 0V to pin 9 ?

Hello hanermo,

the resistor should be between 8/20 and pin 21 .
