I have the stock Bridgeport dc servos on my machine.
The stock encoders were 250 ppr
my new ones have are adjustable up to 2000 ppr.
Is there a setting that works best with the older Bridgeport dc servos?
Is there a setting that works best for Mach 3
Thanks, john

More resolution is usually better right up to the point that you can't generate enough steps to drive them as fast as you want to.
What servo drive are you going to use?

Im using the cncdrives DG4S-16035 with a 82 v power supply.
The reason I ask is my PID tuning is off a little and I cant get it right on the money.
So I'm thinking the brushed motors are having trouble making those last small moves.
For instanced I ask it to go 1000 pulses it goes 1012 pulse.
I don't know just thinking out loud.
Thanks john

If you have a deadband setting and it is more than zero then that could account for that. You may have to add some "I" to your PID tuning.

A 500 count encoder is MORE than plenty for a Bridgeport.
Just a thought, (;-) TP
