Title: At the risk of feeling retarded
Post by: SolarImages on November 29, 2014, 11:25:58 AM
So I am very new to the CNC world in Terms of actually making sending a design from my computer to Mach3 o be cut.

I use Artcam for my design software and Mach3 for G-code to the machine.

My question is about Post Processor's I have seen mention of them many times and have googled them quite a bit.
I understand there function but most of what i have read is a explanation that leads me to believe i need another piece of software?
I think i have a post processor in Artcam Insignia that creates the G-code (toolpath) Once i have this i believe i just load it into Mach3 and start the machine up and go? Thanks for any clarification on this cheers!

Hi SolarImages,

Welcome to the forum.

The Artcam Post Processor you select and use just creates and lets you save the right flavor of Gcode so it is fully understood by Mach3.
