Title: setting up spindle speeds on stepper plasma
Post by: dandimand on October 22, 2014, 10:51:02 PM
I'm doing a configuration and need some help  I'm not fully sure if my motors are 200 steps per revolution
they are from anaheim automation 60hs100de1b lets assume they are for a moment .
I know that the approx travel per one full revolution on the plasma table is 2.75"
and doing the math works out to 72.72 per one inch of travel
what numbers do I enter in the mach 3 motor turning setup
it's just a small two axis plasma cutter .
any specific links to setting this up would be nice
the travels are off quite a bit when just hitting the jog x and y axis
I played with the step number and 2400 gets it fairly close
and I set my default config to inch .
Help appreciated thanks .

Yes you're right its a 2000 microstep  driver but the math still didn't correlate as rack has 6.6 teeth per inch and pinion 18 teeth .
Yet to get right travels had to set the steps per unit at 2830 on both X and Y not sure why ?

Ok so where I'm at now is I'm using sheetcam gave up on the mastercam idea as a post was going to cost more than sheetcam
What does mach3 offer over the free version in the full version ?

In the free version you have no THC system, I think there are other limits too.
