Title: Conversational Wizard/Screen set for Mach
Post by: poppabear on March 27, 2007, 11:13:40 PM
Hello Mach Group,

I have made a good start at a conversational Programming Wizard for Mach.

I would like to have the Mach community help, (those that are willing), to make it better. It needs some work, like Conversational Circles, etc.  I did the linear stuff and seveal other things.
Currently it is an advanced Convo-Mdi.......

It needs some art work too, it is just for function now.

Perhaps a Mod will alot a slot on the support group for Convesational Screens/Wizards and there development.

My hope is with community help, it could mature to a stand alone, conversational Screen set as an option (or Wizard).

I will publish the DRO and LED list, there page and function later.
If anyone show an interest in helping this get done.

The Zip File is currently posted on the Mach Support Group, under Screens "works in progress"

Zip is called: "Convo Wizard.zip"

Take a look and tell me what you think, and please fix, add what you can.

Scott

Well...Scott,
I just posted this over on the CNCZone forum yesterday. I had not seen this thread yet.
I have started working on some wizard screens on my own....actually a take-off from the work I have been doing on a customized screenset of my own.
This first one is a single wizard to do 5 different circle routines on one page. I tried to make it as easy to follow as a Bridgeport EZ-Trak screen.
Let me know if this along the line of what you had in mind.
It is designed for a 1280 x 1024 Screen Resolution but scales down reasonably well using the "Auto Screen Enlarge" button on the general config page

Andy,

Spectacular WORK!! Your artistic skill far, exceeds my own, (not that I have ever been any good at Graphic design anyway). You Circular Wizards screen is very, very
nice. By all means please feel free to contribute all you want.

Many of the Wizards and Screens (especially mine), or SORLY lacking in good Graphics, by all means Upgrade what ever you want to your hearts content.

Thanks Scott,
I  downloaded the zip file for your wizard that you posted at the beginning of the thread but it opens to a blank screen in Mach. Am I missing something?
My wizard started out as a page in my screenset but I broke it out as a wizard for others. I was making a screenset that had everything that I use on the first page...minus any wizardlike stuff. Here is a screen shot of my 1st page.
I am expecting to make some other wizards but it takes time to do the graphics.
Andy

I have edited this post to attach the Screenset files.
The screenset is called "Eye Candy" because of the colorful graphics
The install instructions are in a readme file in the zip

Andy,
Very good. The screen just speaks of repetitive ease of use.
Don't be shy and by all means post some of that engraving work.
Will the wizard ever be available?

Let me do a little work on it and I will post it tomorrow. It is basically customized for my use but others may like it. I don't have a spindle control on it. I have a 3 axis router and a 2 axis mill/drill that I control with this set. Right now it is just 2 screens. The main one on page 1 and the circle routines on page 2. I haven't made any of the other screens normally found in the standard set. I have found that I never go to them so they haven't been a high priority to me. I also use a laser cross hair for setting xy zeros so there is a zero setting script for it. There are also probing routines for the AutoZero z axis toolsetter which I use. You can also probe to the edge of a part in 4 directions or probe for the center of a hole. Just let me clean a few things up first.

Andy,
I created a directory for your wizard in MACH>Addons. The  wizard opens fine in Mach and can add values but
won't post code.
What else do i need to do to make it work? New at this.
Thanks,
RICH

Let me take another look and see what I can find Rich.
When you are working on these things you end up with 500 versions all over the place. I may not be running the same one as you. I will get back to you.

Ok Rich,
I downloaded the Wizard set that I had previously uploaded and after looking at it I realized that I had left out the macro that runs when you hit the post button.
I am attaching it here by itself so you don't have to redownload the whole set again. I also went back and edited the the oringinal attachment to include the necessary macro.
I should also edit it again with an instruction sheet  ::) so everyone will know where things go.

In any case add this macro  "m700.m1s" to the macro directory within mach. Normally these scripts would just be attached to a button but I had problems doing it that way. I think the script is too long for a button and must reside in a macro script which the button calls.   whew!!

OK...One more time >:(
I have messed this up about three times now.
I have edited the first post once more. Please redownload it. It should be right now.
I have added a short installation  readme.
I had also forgotten to put the wizard files in their own folder which is necessary.
All should be well now.. ::)
Let me know if something else becomes a problem.

Thanks ANDY,
Had me really scared there for a while as i am not used to having something work right the first time. ;)
I'll let you know if i find something. Couldn't let it go, read a book on quality "I Know It When I See It"
so i saw it :).

Ataxy,
I have edited the earlier post to include the screenset files for my screenset.
You will need to edit the script under the "laser zero" button before using it. It is setup with zero offset at the moment. Meaning, if you hit the button it will zero at the location of the tool not the laser cross hairs.

Andy, you do beautiful work, your screens are gorgeous.

May I ask what you use to make them?

Thanks for sharing - :)

I hear ya, I've got way too many as well.

You're attention to detail on the screens is very impressive.

Again, beautiful work-

Hey, I have an off topic question.
Is there a way to get these posts to read in the reverse direction. Obviously if you have been following a thread you would want to see the last post first. But when perusing threads I like to start at the beginning and go down. I can't find anywhere where I can change this behavior. Every other forum I frequent works the other way.
Thanks, Andy

Agreed, that's how I like to look at forums as well and mine is set up like that at the moment.

I actually thought it was set that way by default but possibly you have "Show most recent posts at the top." checked in the "Look and Layout Preferences" area in your Profile?

Andy,

My skills are mostly in the "technical", practical applications of mach3, so if you want to design nice stuff but want me to add the code to  make it work, let me know.
If you come up with an idea for "This or that" function, for the most part, (not always), I can make it work, one way or another.

For those of you who downloaded the Eye Candy screenset I apologize. I left out the needed .set file. I have modified my previous post to include it now. But here is the missing "eye candy.set " file by itself.
