Title: Needing Help!
Post by: cncrailroad on June 21, 2014, 12:12:54 AM
I just finished building a new CNC Router and have everything running on Mach 3 with no problems. I'm looking to add a plug-in device to my machine so that I can control movement in all directions in .001 increments for final set-ups.

What are people using to accomplish this task?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

You can set your jog increment to .001 and use the keyboard?

OK so how do I do that? Not trying to be smart just don't know how to do that.

Is there an instruction booklet I can get or down load?  What do you think of the Shuttle Pro device?

Thanks Chuck

Never used the shuttle Pro.

Hit the TAB key on the keyboard, and you can change to jog step mode and choose the increment.

Something I learned from breaking stuff.  I like to use a large round pin for picking up the top of a part or even edges.  By using a large pin the tool is always far enough away that an oops like a jog in the wrong direction won't crash the tool into the part ruining your whole day.  On top I roll it back and forth quickly under the tool until it touches. On the side is a little trickier but no big deal.  It's like sailing a boat.  It not the water that gets you in trouble, it is the hard parts around the edges!
