Title: Toolpath Display Reversal
Post by: geoff3881 on April 11, 2014, 04:59:02 AM
Currently my job/table is reversed compared with the toolpath display.
I do not want to reverse the X & Y movements.
I wonder if there is a way of just flipping the toolpath display >

If the toolpath is backwards, than your axis are running backwards. If you don't change them, then most likely any g-code you create in a CAM program will be cut backwards.

X+ must always be to the right, and Y+ must always move away from you.

Gerry,
My table X+ & Y + are to the right and away from me which I understand is the normal. I have a big diagram on the machine to remind me !!

However, the tool path is mirrored. My current job has an aerofoil section where the leading edge is on the left for the model.
It is on the left in the CAM program and is on the left in the Mach 3 toolpath. When the G code is run the machined cavity has the leading edge on the right.

IF it is a knee mill style the motion is based on the tool motion NOT the table . The table moves opposite of the tool.

IF MACH3 displays it correctly but cuts it backwards then 1 or more of the axis are backwards.  You cannot change the Mach3 display orientation it is based on the normal configuration of XYZA.

Just a thought.
