Title: Mach 3 and feedrate
Post by: DNB on March 12, 2007, 03:11:37 AM
Hello All,

I downloaded the newest Mach 3 v.2.055 tonight.  While testing it out I realized that the IPM did not correspond to the DRO and the actual time that passed.  Note that I was running the software exactly as downloaded and that it was not hooked up to a machine.  At first it seemed the feedrate was running at half speed (i.e. the feed rate was set at 120IPM but the DRO only read 60 inches after one minute).  I then restarted the program a little later, reviewed settings (I made no changes) and then tried the test again.  At this point the opposite occurred (i.e. the feed rate was set at 120IPM but the DRO reached 120 inches after only 30 seconds).

Am I missing something?  I would think that if I coded the feedrate at 120IPM that it would take one minute (plus or minus a few seconds) to go 120 inches.  The G code I used to test this was very simple G1 X120 F120.

Thanks in advance for your input.

David

The same test on my setup takes 67 seconds.

Graham.

Thanks Graham,

I guess it is just my system.  I was working on a laptop that has many processes running at one time.  I will retry the test on a PC when I get home.

Thanks again.

Update.  Installed the software onto my PC and it ran perfectly at 1 minute and three seconds.  I looked at my laptop again and realized the driver test fails on the laptop.
