Title: Jogging
Post by: black33guy on March 18, 2014, 10:43:38 PM
Still working through the manual.  Reading the jogging section 3.2
Parallel port not hooked up yet.
When I'm playing with the jogging buttons in this mode, should I be seeing the readouts change?  If so, nothing is happening.  I do have the jog on/off turned on.  Step mode presently.

thanks, rex

You have to have the axis enabled for there to be movement.
Config/Ports and Pins/Motor Outputs

Port 1 is enabled.  0x378
Output pin configured per your pic.
Jog on
Emergency mode off

Still not seeing DRO's increment with jog buttons.

Should I expect this to work in dry run, no cable on serial port?

Enabled with green check marks ?

Which jog buttons are you using ?
Keyboard ? might have to set the hotkeys.
TAB key pendant ? Should work.
Set to CONTINUOUS mode, Inc. might only move .001 per button press

Yes it does work in continuous mode.  I wonder why not in step?

Go back to STEP and watch it closely.
It will only move the amount that is in the STEP DRO per each button press.
Peck the button and see if it is moving.
Look closely, it should be working.

And, if the resolution of the axis is high, it may take several button presses to see movement ... depending on the STEP increment setting.

I cut a virtual pocket with one of the wizards.  Afterward the step jog started working.  Must have shook something loose.  :)
I think I'm ready to start programming the parallel port.
Thanks much for the help!

Did you shut down your computer and restart or close and open Mach? Some settings need a restart, some dont.
