Title: Lathe screen and mill screen differences. Why?
Post by: Hood on March 11, 2007, 08:56:30 AM
I wiill start by sying I have never used a  CNC lathe but am nearing finishing my lathe retrofit. I dont really like the way the lathe screen is set out, more than likely because I am used to the mill screens and just take bad with the different way of working/layout.
Is there any reason that the lathe screens are totally different setup from the mill screens? IF not then I will modify my mill screen to suit the two axis of the lathe.

The only difference is that it was designed by a different person, and that is how they liked it.
Go for it, your design will be fine.

Already done it , not sure if its fine though, think it will need a lot of tweaking as I get into the swing of using a lathe (pun inended ;)  )
Will probably find I end up using a screen similar to your good friend Steves ;)

Have it made but will have to modify it as I get used to my lathe and find my way of working, that is if I ever get the lathe finished ;)

You'll get it Hood. I'm sure it will be as nice the mill too. You do good work. ;)
