Title: Moving Mach3 license
Post by: markn on March 13, 2014, 09:59:10 PM
Gentlemen,
I have had a licensed copy of Mach3 on my computer for a number of years. I now would like to move the software and license to the PC that I am using for my Bridgeport retrofit. How do I accomplish this?

Thanks

Just copy the file license.dat to the new machine.

Your Mach3 license is called   Mach1Lic.dat  and it is in your original Mach3 folder - just copy and paste / transfer it to your new Mach3 folder and away you go (no need to purchase a new license).
If you wish, you can download the latest version of Mach3 from here http://www.machsupport.com/software/downloads-updates/

Hi
Has anyone experienced the issue with copying the setup.exe folder.
On my PC the folder appears faded compared to the folders in the Mach3 directory. I have the thumb drive plugged in paste the copy to it and I can see it. But when I transfer to the new PC the setup.exe file is not on the thumb drive..........

You shouldn't need any setup.exe file.

This is a fresh install on the BPort PC .. right ?
Download the version you prefer, save it then run it on your new pc. (from earlier link/FTP site)
Then add your .lic, custom screens, macros, brains, plugins and anything else from the old pc.
I don't think you can just copy the M3 folder to the new pc.

I could be wrong (again) though,
Russ

Whatare the specs of the PC what OS and what additional software do you have on it.
How far do you actualy get before things freeze?
Is this a new computer or an older one just new to this purpose?

Hi Hood
Newer used computer with no other programs. I don't have processor specs with me. OS is XP. Freezes when I open mach. Click on mill icon, starts to load and freezes up
Thanks

Yeah. I looked a little earlier and realized the same thing. I bought this unit 6 years ago and child rearing took over. Just started to revisit the project after the Anilam Crusader picked out
