Title: Yet again, UC100 issues
Post by: redrockbriar on January 23, 2014, 05:22:27 PM
First post so here goes.  Trying to get a new Micro Proto 3000 up and running. Computer is HP laptop running Windows 8 (don't get me started).  I've done everything by the book inre installing the UC100 including disabling the secure boot function in the BIOS.  The drivers will not install so I am not getting the screen in Mach3 where I can select the UC100 in lieu of a printer port.
After attempting to install the drivers and upon opening Mach3 I'm getting "Plug in DLL defective. Reload".  I click ok and the next screen says "UC100V2_133.dll, defective plugin found, ignoring", click ok again and Mach3 opens but without the screen to select the controller and with no functionality in Mach3's screen.
I know enough about the guts of this stuff to be really dangerous.  Can anyone help me over the hump?
Thanks,
Chas.

I had problems when I first setup my UC100, and I think it was because of a bad download file from the Mach3 web site.  If you haven't already, download the automatic installer file from the CNCdrive website ( http://cncdrive.com/downloads.html ).   I think that was what worked for me.

The CD that came with the machine had a installer on it and that is what I used.  I'll try the one from the website and see what happens.
How about this: there were some special instructions with the machine for those that had Vista on their computer.  Is 8 of the same ilk and should I have done that fix?
Thanks for the input.

You need to dis able the driver signature authentication in win 8. Drivers for uc100 are not recognized by win 8 and it rejects them unless you dis able the driver signature protocol.

Thank you very much ofg, that worked.
What amazes me is why there is no documentation being supplied with the machine or the software that details what must be done to make all this work. Why does the average Joe have to go to
support forums to learn about things that should have already been documented with the machine/software. Rhetorical question indeed.  Windows 8 is a major piece of crap but if you buy a new computer these days that's what you are stuck with.  Too bad that support for XP is just about over.
I'll get off of my soapbox and thank you again.

Your quite welcome. Im glad my experience with the same hurdles could benefit more than just me.

HOW DO YOU DISABLE DRIVER SIGNATURE PROTOCOL IN WIN 7/8

Charles,
Try this.  It worked for me on my Win 8 laptop.  I did not need it on Win 7.

Yes, you can follow that step by step, or, just get into the bios the old fashioned way, and find the option, and un check it. I think its by pressing f10 repeatedly at start up that opens up the bios.

Comet,
Pressing the Escape key during start up opens a little menu that tells you to press F10 to get into the BIOS.  Six of one, half dozen of another.
I am 66 and am certainly no techie and I was able to perform the steps outlined in the YouTube presentation.  The menus may not be exactly the same but it is not difficult to figure out. With all the hoops to jump thru, Windows does not really want you to do this 'cuz you're messing with their baby but until the the software nerds decide to supply digitally signed drivers you've got to do it or go to the barn.  The nerd farm in most cases does a poor job of keeping up with MicroHard's BS.  Forums like this one are the only way to get answers and I applaud those who are able and willing to provide them.
Down from my soapbox again.

Pretty sure I used the linked utube video first time I had to do this. Then my kid showed me the slightly quicker way. Work with win8 long enough,, and you will be a pro at this! Everything I do it seems has an unsigned driver.

Guys... I am using UC100 with Gecko G540 with success. Initially i was getting trouble at each startup i was having no-connection issues. I resolved in following manner:
1- Scan my computer with Avista antivirus (free edition). Lot of viruses rectified with boot scan.
2- I always start computer first and then i connect the CNC control panel. This way i never got problem with UC100
By the way the controller is great:)

Sometimes if you get a buffer error, then it helps to shut of the internet connection. Also, its best to set your screen and sleep timers to never goto sleep, and never shut down the screen. Its quite un nerving to be busy working while the machine cuts, then your monitor goes black, and the machine is still making chips! Let it go much longer and the comp goes to sleep, the uc100 loses connection, machine stops and then its time to start over.  Best to make your computer never goto sleep.

Thread revival! I have been trying on and off for a YEAR to get this to work. I'm having the *exact* same issue as the OP (after installing UC100 drivers/plugin, upon opening Mach3 I'm getting "Plug in DLL defective. Reload".  I click ok and the next screen says "UC100V2_148.dll, defective plugin found, ignoring"). I've done so with the methods described in the thread for installing "unsigned drivers" and still no luck.
I've noticed that the manual for the UC100 now says "Our drivers are now WHQL certified by Microsoft" and Win8 is listed as officially supported. But still... Mach3 driver load errors!
Anyone know what else I can try? Could this be something wrong with Mach3 installation? If I delete the UC100 plugin, Mach loads fine w/o errors.
I'm running Win8 on the Toshiba Encore Mini 7" and my licensed copy of Mach3 Pro 2.0.

Colin are you still trying to load drivers from the Mach3 site or did you go to teh UCCNC website and download them from there . I believe you are ONLY going to get teh new updated drivers from teh UCCNC website.

BR549- I get them direct from http://cncdrive.com/UC100.html
According to the error screen, it looks like I have 2.148 installed, which is newer than the text on their site stating V2.146, and the manual mentions V2.145! :)

Double check t make SURE there are no left over DLL,s from a previous attemp to install .  THAT will cause problems.

You're using Mach3 version 2.0? Try version 3.043.062

Guys thanks for the input! I had also reached out directly to support at CNCDrive who sent a pretty lengthy response. One thing they mentioned to try was make sure DOTNET 3.5 was installed (includes 2.0), so altho my tablet showed it as installed, I told it to uninstall and then re-install 3.5 and now it's working w/o errors!! Hope this helps anyone else coming across this thread.
The next thing I was going to try was purge all previous versions, but so far it looks like I didn't need to do that. :)

Ger21- I'll look into updating Mach tonight as well.

Too bad that support for XP is just about over.

Chas.

I dedicate my PC to running Mach and nothing else, so it never even gets connected to the internet. The updates and "support" have no meaning to me because I never need or use them. I just install XP on a formatted hard drive, do the optimisation, etc and away I go. If you can find a PC to run XP you could use XP for ever for just Mach.

I thought I would post here, in order to document the same problem I have had with a UC300 motion controller after an upgrade to windows 10
When I loaded mach3, it would say Plug in DLL defective. Reload"
I followed the advice on this forum and disabled the driver signature protocol as described. Still no luck.
I saved my xml file and uninstalled Mach3 and I uninstalled the driver for the UC300 as well
I reinstalled Mach3 and installed the automatic installer application for the uc300 from https://www.cnc4you.co.uk/UC300-USB-Motion-Controller
On that page they also have a download called "Software prerequirements" which is a copy of the dotnet framework for windows
I installed that and loaded Mach3 again and it worked
Thanks
Joz

What worked for me was to go to Programs and Features (appwiz.cpl), choose Turn Windows Features on or off, then check the box for .NET Framework 3.5 (Includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0).

I was getting the same error "Plugin  DLL Defective. Reload." and "UC100 V2_151.dll - Defective Plugin Found..ignoreing.." on 64-bit Windows 10.
I used both driver options from the cncdrive website, and I had verified that the driver was installed properly, and that I had .NET installed (PowerShell reported 4.8.04084). The forums suggest that this DLL error is certainly related to .NET, so I'm guessing that while .NET 3.5 includes .NET 2.0 (required for the motion controller), higher versions do not. Making sure that .NET 3.5 was enabled included .NET 2.0, and now I'm in business!
