Here is a short video of me testing the feed per in Mach4. I also have been testing CSS and will try to get a video out of that working...
http://youtu.be/fIXrkznE2IU
It is using the VFD to get the RPM of the spindle over serial modbus so it is not as good as an encoder would be but it seems very good for the tools I used :)

You're only posted that to get Hood all excited, didn't you? ;) ;D
Looking good though!

Nope he skyped the link to me prior to posting ;)

I might of guessed you would of had a preview.

one of the perks of being a long suffering Mach Lathe user :)

He is the one that started all this with Mach4.. Hood wanted to have better offsets and Feed per rev that worked like this.. So I should have had the preview LOL

Video of CSS, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i02DmXtH3XM
Seems to be working well by the looks of the vid :) Feed per rev definitely looks to be staying constant as the RPM increases :)

All lathe users miss this, hope it can do tool compensation also. Hope this is released soon or a Beta that can be tested.

Tool Tip comp is on the work bench... I have a plan in place on how to do the tool tip comp. So now I have to turn the crank and make the code :) Also this is all in mill at this point so I need to take the time to shift this over to turn and add all the other things I think turn needs (U and W for Inc moves ) Also many of the Gcodes will change.. We can add script calls to shift the machine into Mill mode for you out there with milling on a lathe ;)
-
HIYA Brian do you have Feed Per Rev working in MILL as well?
(;-) TP

This may not be used by many right now but I think it will be soon. :)

Yes this is in Mill and in turn.. So you will have CSS and Feed per rev in turn and mill and we don't care where you get the RPM from as long as we can get it ;) This was all scripted in for the demo that I did.

Brian,
So what will be the basis of the new Gcodes.......ie: Smid?
If not what?
And while we are it, at a high level of thought, do you have any strong thoughts on what the lathe screen should look like?
BTW,answers to the above will save ya "5 minutes" ;)

We are going to make it like Fanuc for lathe and mill so it should be like Smid :)

Brian,
Thanks for the info and I'll need to review the differences in the dialects of code.
