Title: Having trouble setting up the UC100 CNC controller
Post by: jeremy.brown.0400 on December 06, 2013, 05:57:01 PM
Hello, Im having trouble setting up the UC100 CNC controler/adapter. I downloaded the automatic setup file and it moved itself to the Mach3 file. But it doesn't seem to do anything. Im running windows 7 32bit on bootcamp. Any help would be much appreciated!

Did you do all the steps in the PDF?
http://cncdrive.com/MC/UC100%20datasheet/UC100%20users%20guide.pdf
When you plugged the UC-100 in did it load the drivers.
Did Mach ask you what controller you wanted to use when you started it?

Yes I've done the first steps but with the driver downloaded, UC100 plugged in and then open Mach3 it does nothing. The screen to choose the control device does not come up and there are no other changes to Mach3.

Does it show up in the "configure plugins" menu under the config drop down?
Is it listed in the plugin control drop down?
In the Mach3 plugins folder is the UC100 DLL listed?

The DLL is listed in Mach3 folder too.

Well the config plugins should show all the plugins in that folder. I would toss out the DLL and reinstall from a fresh download.

No problem.
You can download the DLL by itself here

Ok, so I deleted the old file, downloaded another (UCx00 automatic installer application) Put it in the Mach3 file, started Mach3 and still nothing..... I'm nearly tearing my hair out!! haha

I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right. Nothing comes up when i plug it in and open Mach3. When I download the file i just move it to the Mach3 folder don't I?

Ok this my be the problem.
The .m3p is an installer. If you are dropping that in the plugins folder it won't work. Plop it on your dektop, double click and it will install the .DLL in the mach folder.
There are only two components. the windows USB driver and the Mach plugin. Download the plugin from the link I gave you and double click to install.

I just tried doing that and when I clicked on it on the desktop it came up with an error saying "corrupt install, no license found. Aborting." (I have paid for the license and it shows at the top of Mach3 that it's registered) after that error goes away, a heap of files appear on the desktop. Maybe I am supposed to transfer these files to Mach3?

The m3p installer should only be installing the DLL file to the plugins folder.

I don't have a windows 7 machine so I'm not sure where to tell you to go from here.
CNCDrive.com has a contact link on their site. Balazs is usually pretty quick to help.

If you grab the m3p and place it in your plugins folder you can then simply change the file extension of it to .dll and it should be seen on next start of Mach.

Is the M3P file "UCx00 automatic installer application" or do I have the wrong one? To change it to a .dll do I just click on it?

This is what it says when I click on the auto setup file

Then when I put the auto installer file into mach3 and click on it. Mach3 opens normally and there is no sign of it recognizing the UC100

Afraid I have no idea about the UC100 and its plugin/installer, if it is not a m3p file you are downloading then you will have to do as you are instructed by them.
