Hi please help me to setup mach3 with with this driver
my stepper motor is
2.6 Nm Hybrid Motor 368oz
1.8° /200 Steps Per Rev.
3.5 Amps Current Per Phase
Inductance 2.8 mH
4-wire Bi-polar,
ball screw pitch 5 mm
I am working with mm

Are you using the parallel port or an external controller? Do you have a breakout board?

- For SW 5,6,7, use 1/10 Microstep setting as there is nothing to be gained by going higher.
- For SW 1,2,3 use 2.7 Amp setting ( you can go to 3.2 or 2.3 , test and see how the motors react)
- FOr SW 4 use full current
- I don't know what they mean by " in the driver has a jump" , try single pulse
Go to Members Docs and there you will find a spread sheet that calculates the steps per unit based on your input.
You can use the axis calibration feature of Mach, which is in the lower left corner of the screen that comes up
upon clicking Settings (ALT-6 ) Tab at the top. I would suggest you first calculate the steps per unit and then check
using the axis calibration feature. Note that that you should check by having backlash removed from the axis in the direction you going to move.
Additionaly the move should be as long as possible (ie;almost full length of the axis travel).
Then check to see if you have backlash, and if so, either get rid of the backlash or use the backlash compensation feature of Mach.
Use an low velocity, say 10 with an accel of 1 for motor tuning and then double each value until the motor skips, and then reduce those
values by say 30%. You will need to test when machining different materials and see what is appropriate for your needs.
The above should get you in the ball park and you can refine based on testing.

Rich is talking about the switches on your drives, 5,6 and 7 determine the micorstepping you will use, so set them up to be 1/10 as the manual says.
1,2 and 3 determine the current, so set them to be 2.7 amp for a start
Ok have you got anything wired up to the breakout?
