Today I had to buy a new computer to replace a 11 year old one running XP Pro SP3. The new 64bit PC came with WIN7 and a parallel port card installed by dealer. No motherboards with on-board parallel port are available nowadays. At least not here.
I can see the parallel port on the Device Manager as LPT1 and the driver also reports as being up-to-date, yet when I install Mach3 R3.043.066 I get "No driver seemed installed. Run driver test." which I did but see no result.
The program proper seems to install alright but without the parallel port.
Can anyone suggest a remedy?
Thanks

Sorry, but you can't install the parallel port driver on a 64 bit machine. To use the computer, you will have to use an external driver, like a SmoothStepper.

Wow, what a bummer :'( . I hope seller will take computer back for exchange to a 32 bit
Thanks for quick reply, though

Seller, sent a technician this morning to install Win7 32bit. Good old-fashioned service rarely on the menu these days. For those living in Barbados, seller was Thinking Computers.
