Title: Y axis won't move in Job Step but work fine in Continous Mode?
Post by: andros on September 19, 2013, 03:24:33 AM: My X and Z axises work fine in both Jog Step or Continous mode even at small increments. My Y axis is setup teh excat same way (i think). But the problem is that as soon as i switch the Jog Mode to Step Mode the Y axis won't move at all. X and Y moves fine. As soon as i switch back to Continous Mode again. All axises move fine again?

Makes no sense to me?

Post by: Hood on September 19, 2013, 01:31:35 PM: Open Mach and look lower right at the name of the profile.
Close Mach then go to the Mach3 folder on you r hard drive and look for a file of that name with a .xml file extension.
Copy it to your desktop and rename to something unique, something like andros.xml
Use the additional options button on the reply page to browse to your desktop and choose the renamed file.

Can you tell me, does the Y axis DRO show that it is moving? It does here.
I do notice there are no HotKeys set up for your axes, I am not sure if that will make any difference as it seems fine here but it may be worth trying to set them up anyway. To do that go to Config menu then System Hotkeys. Click on X++ and a box will pop up asking for you to press a key, click you right arrow. Next X-- and press Left arrow, move to Y++ etc and do them all.

Sorry i missed your post! I havent tried to set it up like you describe. But the dros are counting when hitting the up and down arrow keys in step mode but the motors are not moving. Did you check my video? Weird how it sort of works in backlash comp mode huh?

Post by: Hood on September 21, 2013, 02:35:31 PM: Ok, if DROs are moving that will mean I will have to try and hook up a parallel port and a scope to see if the pulses are being output. They should be as supposedly the DROs get updated from the output of the driver, so if they are moving the pulses would seem to be getting sent.
One thing you may wish to try is increase the Pulse Width and Dir on motor tuning to maybe 10 or 15 and see if that helps.

Post by: Hood on September 21, 2013, 05:08:54 PM: Ok I think there is something weird about your xml, I am not getting good traces on any of the axes I tried (X and Y) I set up another profile with the same steps per unit/Velocity/Accel as yours and it shows as I would expect.
So far I can not see why your profile is not right, will keep looking to see but maybe the best solution would be for you to just make a new profile from scratch as you do not have many settings to configure.

Post by: andros on September 26, 2013, 07:04:08 PM: I figured it out!!!! It was in Ports and Pins. I needed to tick Step Low Active in the Y-axis. Bingo.
