Hi all, I'm sure this had been discussed before but I can't find the answer. In fact I am sure I have posted this question on this sight some time ago but did not get a response.
Could somebody point me in the right direction for 3D CAM software. I have had my mill for 8 years now and have always used LasyCam and CAMBam.
I have never found a way to use my 4th axis for 3D milling and don't know where to start.
I thought I would have found CAM software that I could import an obj of something and by using the 4th axis and so on to G-Code.
The only software I could find is relay expensive and beyond my reach. (dolphin for example).
Any pointers please.
Your's gratefully,
Anthony

Try vectric cut 3d, good program for 3d stuff. Try a free trial and see if you like it.

Hello pakirk:
Have a look at Desk Proto V6.
http://www.deskproto.com/products/newinv6.htm
Look at the page for pricing. They have a "Hobby" version license for the multi-axis at 248.00 Euro, plus VAT.
I am not a user, but have seen it mentioned on a web site dedicated to multi-axis machining; a non-Mach3 European web site.
It looks impressive.

Also, have a look at CNC Wrapper. It is a Gcode conversion program for $25.00.

MeshCAM Art is a great program for 3D sculpting from simple bitmaps. Then, (as mentioned in last post, above) convert the g-code using CNC Wrapper to generate the 4th axis toolpath.
