Title: anomaly after regen
Post by: greenene on September 04, 2013, 12:51:26 PM
When I first set up the work  coordinates, I set all three axis  to zero,  regenerate, and home the machine.
However, When I press cycle start, the machine does not start cutting at the correct point relative to the work origin.
This is something new that's been happening, and I don't know why.
I have to push the button "send to zero" and then the machine will run fine next time around.
Any clues?
thanks
tony

I would suggest that you should home the machine first then set your work coords and so on, see if that corrects the problem

If you set the axis to zero, and then home the machine, the zero positions you just set will be changed by the homing routine. You should always be homing first, then set zero.

Now I am confused.
I start from the home position. Then I go to set my xyz work origin. Set the DROs to zero and regenerate. Then send the machine to home.
Are you saying that this is wrong? I've been working with Mach 3 for 5 years and I ( think) this was always my procedure.

Are you actually homing the machine to Home switches? When you said you Home the machine, that's what I thought you meant.

yes, I have home switches and right after regen, I send them there. From there, sometimes the coordinates that I had set are "forgotten" once I start the run cycle.

Are you sending it to the home position, or homing the machine with the Ref All button?
