Title: Rotary Table
Post by: GRAYHIL on August 20, 2013, 03:23:24 PM
Hi All
I want my rotary table to act as a pull roller to pull a paper roll through a set ditance.
Is it acceptable to change the motor settings to achive a 1" pull for 1degree dro readout,
I have done the calculations and I need to go from 66.666666 steps for normal 360deg rotation to  2748  for a 2.78" dia and 1" pull

2.78*3.142/360=.02426 for 1 deg (normal)
so 1" is 66.666666/.02426 or 2748 steps with approprate change to speed and accelaration

It seems to move the correct distance but are there any problems with this?

Set the rotary axis to a linear axis in General Config and you should be fine.

Set up as linear drive and then calculate the steps based on the circumference of the roller. Then you can use the axis X or Y directly same as a normal axis. It would just have have an infinite distance.
