Title: Gcode runs with Mach2 but not Mach3
Post by: Paul Thompson on July 27, 2013, 03:01:41 AM
Hi,
Mach3 has worked fine for a long time but it won't run gcode anymore. Jogging works, using a USB interface works and Mach2 works. I used to be able to fix it by erasing the Mach3 directory and reinstalling but that no longer works. I've tried a number of versions. I figure the parallel port card, breakout board, drivers and steppers are all OK because Mach2 works.

Mach3 tries to run a program but the motors only make noise. If backlash is enabled the motors just go back and forth the amount of backlash. It sounds too fast and the feedrate has no effect. I'm using 25MHz. The DRO flickers a little but stays the same. If I push the "To Go" button I can see it counting down. What is wrong?

Sounds like your motor tuning may be wrong, ie Vel and/or Accel set too high for your setup.

The tuning has been working fine until recently. In jog it will go at 100%. Also the same speed works in Mach2. On a scope the pulses are too close together and not spaced evenly. Some axes don't even try to move. Plus the DROs don't move.

Attach your xml and I  will see if I can find a problem with it.
