Hi, all, thought I'd share a simple job I did, as sometimes these are the most fun.
They're quick and easy and can actually be useful,
Unfortunately I'm no grill master, (as those of you charcoal grillers are forming a collective "duh!"), so I'm always kind of anal about my foods being cooked properly. I thought this would come in handy.....
I used an engraving material (not sure what brand as this came in a aftermarket buy) with a black base and brushed metal cap and held on with automotive emblem 2 sided tape. Hopefully it holds up, but if not, I'll use a better material down the road :D

That looks great Dave! If a fella didn't know better he would think it was made for it. ;D It always tickles me when people say it looks store bought. That looks store bought for sure. ;D

The safe cooking temp for pork was lowered to 145deg (;-)
Just a thought(;-) TP

Thanks Brett!
And Terry....... again, I'm anal, and I disagree with that .... just a thought- ;)

+1 for 145Deg
mmmm……pork
Here's a really good rub recipe I got from the webber app. I grind everything up in an old blade type coffee grinder.
3 tablespoons kosher salt
3 tablespoons whole black peppercorns
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1-½ tablespoons whole mustard seed
1-½ tablespoons sweet paprika
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1-½ teaspoons whole cumin seed
1-½ teaspoons whole fennel seed
1-½ teaspoons celery seed
1-½ teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Nice plate by the way!

Thanks Derek, I'll jot that one down.
Oh, and I fixed it up for the 145 Degree fans ;)

I have a customer that wants me to start engraving tags for him. Was that stuff easy to work with?
Derek

It was, but I don't know who made it as I mentioned above.
I mostly use "Rowmark" as they carry a LOT of different types of engraving material.

Excellent job on the plate Dave.

Nice work Dave. ;)
A couple of cans of Bud and some of the 160 deg. stuff would go down well here at the moment (Glastonbury). ;D
Tweakie.

;D
Thanks Craig, and Tweaks!

Nice job and maybe you can make one for the other side of the grill.
So when is the cookout?
We can all come, have ribs and beer, and discuss what the other one should be for. ;)

Yep, we've actually been trying to come up with something "witty" to do on the opposite side as it looks unbalanced now :P
Thanks, Rich, and anytime, my friend- :)

How about cooking time versus beer consumed ?
Tweakie.

That'll require too much math and note-taking so that's not going to happen.
You'd have to figure in too many variables, such as:
- How bad/good my work week was
- How many people are stopping by
- How many people I tell to go home ;)
- How good the food turns out..............you get the idea :D

Nice work Bud ...
How about a nice related quote ? ? ?
This is my favorite ... at a quick glance :
A man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. He sits on a hot barbecue for a minute, it’s longer than any hour. That is relativity. – Albert Einstein
from here : http://noexcusesbbq.com/bbq-quotes
Some are from very interesting sources.
Good job Dave.

Wow, that does look like it was made for it! I have that same grill. Infrared is pretty nice, eh!
so I'm always kind of anal about my foods being cooked properly
I think that's the first time I have seen "anal" and "food" used in the same sentence. ;D

Somehow I doubt that, Sam- ;)

How about adding a Time chart on the right, incorporating info from know data like I found here.

I kind of like that idea, Craig, but I would have to really prune it down as there's not much room.
Thanks for the thought!

.... or maybe just a nice graphic ?
