Title: Help on selling a Mach 3 CNC
Post by: Frances2222 on June 10, 2013, 11:58:47 AM
Hi eveyone!

I have Mach 3 CNC for sale.  It comes with an HP laptop that used Art cam software.   This appears to be the brains of the CNC.  There is a Honeywell name on the router part.  I am trying to sell it and need to find out how much they generally go for.

I would appreciate your advice, thanks in advance

Frances

Post a few pictures of the router, I'm sure someone will recognize it.

I am trying to sell this machine.  It is mach 3 and runs on art cam software.  It was used to make violins and then to carve wood for furniture.  I am selling it and am trying to price it.  It comes with the HP laptop.

Any ideas anyone?  Your help is appreciated, thanks!

OK - as this is not your pride and joy but a simple cold hard cash question...

First off it looks home brew to me - of course I could be wrong.

Round motors - not good - unsupported round rails where diameter looks small for length - not good - screw supported by motor - not good - screw very small diameter for length - not good - "regular" wood router for spindle - nothing special - thin looking bent steel work - not good. All in all (IMHO) a pretty good example of how NOT to build a router.

Does it work? - what sort of speeds and accel does it hold - accuracy/repeatability/backlash? - my guess would be none of them particularly good - maybe you can say different but it's notable that you haven't said anything about it working, if I was a potential buyer (I'm most definitely not BTW) I'd assume the worst.

That said - the bay's awash with people paying way over the odds so you may get lucky and if you do I think you'll be looking at (low) hundreds but only IF IT WORKS.

Just my honest view - others (190 odd of them so far) may completely disagree - but they don't seem to be jumping in making offers.

Cheers

Ian

Have to agree with Ian here.

Unless you can give a LOT more info and specs of the table/router, there's not going to be a mad rush to buy it. Best bet is to get it going and cutting something on video, and then you would get your best chance of a decent sell.

I'll back up Stirling on this one.
The router looks to be home made and not capable of high tolerance work. That being said it may be just what someone is looking to get started.
Fully functional with computer I would hazard a guess of ~$500 dollars. Of course I don't need one either, I have enough projects as it is.
