Title: No signal to Z
Post by: moxietek@aol.com on May 25, 2013, 08:34:17 PM
Warp9   E189010
smoothstepper driver Ver 17efb, 37, 2.08.36.

the z motor does not lock - the new motor does not lock.
I reversed the pins no luck
I swapped the z x cables on the controller z did not jog but, x would jog on z or x. [controller ok]
I put x on z of the controller and it jogs. [cable ok, controller ok.]
Mach3 knows and shows jogging. SS diag shows the movement in mach3.
I'm looking at the SS driver or board ? no signal is getting to z

Whats left ?????

Have you checked out your cable/s and connections going to the z motor?

I just read all of that.  That does not eliminate your z motor wiring.  In fact it points to it.  Check your z axis cables and connections from the controller to the motor with a meter.  Ohm them out.

I checked out ohms on x to see what readings were on a useable cable then I checked z and it has continuity.

Hope you have a good weekend

If your cable is good and the connections are good it points to the motor.  I have a hard time believing you got 2 bad motors but that isn't impossible.  If you can swap your wires coming out of the control box and going to the axis motors for the x and z and x works in both positions but z does not work in either position the problem will be between your controller box and the output shaft on the z motor.  Are the motors the same size for the x and z? have you tested through all connectors with the ohm meter?

both motors I have will work on x, same size.    attached is my little rig, some guy in china is laughing his ass off.......

I swapped the z x cables on the controller z did not jog but, x would jog on z or x.

I put x on z of the controller and it jogs.

Yup, your problem will be between the control box and the z output shaft.  I hate to inform you but you are probably running a pirated licenses too.  You will get no more help here if that is the case and you do not rectify it.

My licenses are bought and payed for.   From: Greg Cary <support@warp9td.com>

What is between the control box and the z output shaft.

The only things between the control box and the output shaft on the motor is the motor, wires and any connectors.
