Title: Using Mach to control multiple spindles and i/o
Post by: angel tech on April 28, 2013, 03:21:01 PM
Hi guys, bit of an odd one here. I'm trying to devise a way of controlling up to 8 spindles at the same time, and have a lot of on off i/o available as well. Can Mach convert any of the existing axis controls to a spindle, or can it be done with Modbus or pokeys.

If your spindles are requiring separate speed commands then no you can not use Mach to control them directly. If they were not needed at the same time then you could likely use Swap Axis to control them but not up to 8.

A plc with motion cards or analogue outputs could be used, even a pokeys or any other device with analogue outs could be used (assuming its analogue control you require) however I dont think PoKeys has that many analogue outs, then again its a long time since I have looked.

Not sure, in fact I am starting to wonder if it did have analogue outs or just ins, you would have to really ask Boris or Matevž
