Hi all,
How do you link to a youtube video so that an image of the video accompanies the link for playing, and not just a url link.
Thanks for a quick answer. I'm sure it must be simple.

I see quite a few of these playable image youtube videos diplayed throughout the forum, and many more with just the URL. What's the trick?
I've searched for help, but none of the solutions (so far) from the web seem to work.

You can embed with the link youtube gives you, if you look at your video then click on the hare button then embed button you will get the address, you can then just paste that into the post, at least thats how I think its done, will soon find out as I am just away to try ;D

Ok have managed it :)
(http://then your url here)
without the quotations
You have to put the size in that your video is for it to show correctly, mine is 420,315 yours is 520,315
-
You did it... but I just got a empty white box again. What did you do differently?
first I just posted the embed code. which you see above,
The white box I got by selecting "insert flash" button and then placing the embed code into it.
iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6s5oP2ihMuQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe

This is what I have, but with the "[" and "]" brackets on each end... this below is just so I can post what I put in.
(flash=560,315]http://<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6s5oP2ihMuQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/flash)
Where did you get the "520" for size?
-
Ok can you post the link you get from youtube for the embed address again and I will show you which part you need
Hood

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6s5oP2ihMuQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
the above is the "embed" information.
-
You had different before, can you go back to youtube and copy the whole lot of the embed text again then post.

<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6s5oP2ihMuQ?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6s5oP2ihMuQ?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
The above is the "old" code... My previous post has the "new?" code? They have a choice between old and new.

Thank you LOADS, Hood!
Where would we be without you.

Nice one Hood
As you've found, it's difficult to post tagged content when you're trying to describe it (rather than have it executed). Just as a tip you could do it like this
[flash=520,315]http://www.youtube.com/v/6s5oP2ihMuQ?hl=en_US&version=3[/flash]
i.e. put it in code tags (the hash button) and then it doesn't get translated. (if you get my drift)
