Title: need some help please

Hi all
i am at whits end!
my machine wont cut a round circle it has flat spots on the X axis
i have checked run out for movement, i took apart the ways and cleaned them, readjusted the gibs,
tried a diffrent wizard
what am i  missing
it has always worked before
chasing my tail

Check everything related to axis backlash ...everything !
Motor couplings, pulley set-screws, ball/lead screw mountings and bearings, belt tension/slippage ..... any and everything you can think of.
Test the backlash with an indicator.
If it worked OK before, something has changed, come loose or worn out.

.. I should've asked ..What type of machine is it ?
.Is it a mill ? router? plasma ? or ......
Type of axis actuation ? ? ?
A pic or 2 might help also.
The more info ... the better.
