Title: Mach 3 settings problem? Only 999 lines of G-code run, plus problem with "Y" Mot
Post by: 96dodgeviper on March 25, 2013, 11:47:32 AM
Hello.  I just bought a CNC machine (6040Z+S80), with Mach 3.
I have Vista windows in my desk top computer.
My "Y" motor runs once in a while for a few seconds, and then stops.
I've tested the motor and wires and they seem to be fine.
The company that I bought the CNC from says I must have messed up the settings somewhere.

The 2nd problem is that I tried to run the sample project labeled "roadrunner" and only 999 lines
out of the 4,470 line of G-code ran.  The same company said I must have messed up the settings somewhere.
Can anyone help me?
I would love to take a class on Mach 3 and CNC machines ....or find someone that could Tutor me on it.

I read through all the manuals on that site...with no luck.
I will check out the videos.
Thanks,

Sounds like you have an old version of Mach3, when the demo limit was 1000 lines of code.

I too thought it might be a demo version...I called the company that I bought it from, and they swear it is a real copy, that it should run the whole program.
They said they've sold hundreds of these machines, and never had a problem.  Is there a way to find out if it's a demo version?
Thanks so much

Go to help About Mach3 and you should see your name and the version number.
What version is it, and who is it licensed to?

Thanks so much for the information Gerry.
Wow, looks like they lied to me....
Where it says "licensed to:"....it says "Demo Version"
as far as version...it says "Version D1.90.038
Not for sure what to do now....I guess I need to confront the Company I bought the CNC machine from and see what they will do.
Of course I bought it on-line, so probably will have to buy my own copy of Mach 3.
Is there an easier version, or different software for a total beginner?
Also, IF I was told right...do I need to buy another software to make G-code that will run in Mach 3?
I'm trying to take a picture from my camera...or the internet, and turn it into G-code, and then run it on Mach 3 to do
carvings into wood etc.
Any info would be much appreciated.

Another newbie getting ripped off by cheap Chinese machines  >:(

It's easy to sell cheap stuff if you use cheap, poor quality parts, don't care about the quality of the construction and then steal the software (i.e. pirated version). Stick it on EBay and some good person who has worked hard for their money will think they found a 'great deal' and buy it only to discover later that they were taken.

Why not leave truthful feedback about it on EBay, let everyone else know they are selling mislabeled products (i.e. does no come with needed software though it implies it does) or that they provided a pirated copy?

I feel sorry for the folks who get ripped off and pissed at the dishonest people who sell this crap.
