Title: Can't get LazyCam to write the G-code
Post by: 96dodgeviper on March 15, 2013, 07:38:04 PM
Hello,
First time CNC user.  I went on WWW.machsupport.com and found the user's manual (A user's guide to installation, configuration, and operation),
I read it, and got to Chapter 8.4.5..."Writing The G-code file".  So I loaded my picture (jpg format), the picture shows up in Lazy Cam.  It gives me the choices
...V-drill, raster xy, etc...I choose raster xy.  Goes to the next screen...image size, depth, step over etc...I click ok.
Then the picture disappears, and several lines appear.  The Manual says that I should have gotten a screen that has the button on it "convert"....I never found any button
that said "convert".  Can you please help me?  Is there a good video out there that shows from step one to the end on how to take a picture and put it into Mach 3 as code?
Thanks

Lazycam is a dead project and has been for years.  It may well do what you want but I cant remember ever importing a jpeg to generate code from.  If I wanted to use images to generate gcode I would look at Vectric software.  Mach use to have that ability but it was taken out when Lazycam came along.

I have only played a little with the pic import feature of LC and frankly found it very lacking.
The LC manual only covers the mill and lathe use.

You will be on your owne........ to refresh my memory .....just tried importing a jpg and only the V-drill seemed to work on the import.
Sorry, but suggest you take Brett's advice.
