Title: Setting Tool Height
Post by: PeterMcK on March 09, 2013, 05:02:02 PM
Hi,

I am getting started with Mach on a Novakon CNC Mill.  I am having trouble figuring out how to account for tool heioght.  If I input a tool height in to the tool table, touch the tool to the work and zero all axes, and then start a program (G code created with the circular pocket wizards) the head goes up the Z axis the height of the tool.  If I reset the zero and run the program again (without reloading) it doesn't go up again.

If I reset the tool height to zero after the first tool run, the tool goes down the length of the tool when I start the program (this could have been a disaster, but I was practicing with wax!).

To date the successful option has been to set the tool height to zero, touch on the work and start the program, but I'm not sure that this is the right way to go.

I've tried reading the maual, but I find it confusing.

Can anyone help?
