ok, so here's the billion dollar question.

I'd like to cut 30mm ally plate by laser, how big a laser do i need?

I use a commercial shop whose business is mostly laser-cutting.  They have BIG machines!  They won't even do 1/2".

Waterjet cutting IS amazing as to it accuracy in thick plate. AND no HAZ to deal with.
