Title: Delta Servodrives with Mach 3
Post by: furkanyilmaz11 on January 28, 2013, 03:27:04 AM
Hi everyone,

I bought a new servo drive and motor system. And I am currently testing it. It worked on plc based system. It's working completly.

But I am in curious about how can i use it with mach3 and pc.
1-Can i connect signal pins to parallel port directly? If i can't use it directly, which interface card would you recommend? So i can buy from websites like cnc4pc or i can buy like this thing http://www.mach3turkiye.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_73&product_id=79 .

2-And what's the mach3's signal type(so cw, ccw or pulse and direction or etc..)? For set my servo drive to that signal type.

I am using ASDA-B2 750watt servo drive and servo motors. How can i use it with mach 3? I ll wait ur helps, thank you.

If the drives can accept Step/Dir signals then you can use with Mach. I think they will be able to use that method but have not looked at docs yet.
If using the parallel port you will need to use electronic gearing in the drive so that for every pulse Mach sends out the drive multiplies it. I do not like that method personally so I prefer to use an external controller so that I can get a true pulse per unit count.
Which controller would Depend on what you are looking for, the Ethernet Smoothstepper works well but for me the CSMIO products take things to a new level as they have 24v I/O and differential Step/Dir signals amongst other nice features.

On page 56 it says it can accept Step/Dir signals, or as they call it Pulse/Direction, see screenshot below.
