Title: threading test
Post by: dresda on January 26, 2013, 12:15:12 AM

threading wizard .250" pitch 4 tpi I get about 11.5tpi. using a 1000ppr encoder x4 = 4000. I see the trigger pulse on and off twice just before the threading then the threading LED comes on Z moves but no pull out at the end of the thread but a slight dwell. If I jog the X &Z away and retstart the program it does sinc to the same pitch so it is consistant, and why am I allowed to use the feed hold in mid thread because that just screwed everything up.

can you attach the gcode file you are using?

Ok, done more tests and it seems to be ok in a crazy sort of way. I noticed the 20% increase in spindle DRO but not the spindle so that's ok right, but I also noticed the pitch of .250 dropped to .207 which is about 20% go figure, and if you are threading for about 2." it stays at .207" for about 1.5" then goes up to .250" haven't checked the thread with a gauge yet just my vernier looks ok.
Rufi there is no way the acc/dec on this unit is 100ms in feed hold.

Thanks, As for the feed problems, it seems like if i choose the wrong pulley range and still run it that's a big no no.
No sync between feed or spindle in threading, going to try some more tests.
Is it OK to see the the feed DRo change part way through the threading cycle, can't say I can see actual change but it is about 20% less than programmed feed for a good portion of the thread.
