Title: I can only see 2 decimal places on feedrate window
Post by: dresda on January 21, 2013, 11:42:24 PM
when running in inch/rev the feedrate window only shows 2 decimal places so if I run at .005"/rev you can't see the 5 what gives..

Hi Ray,

You will need to use one of the Screen Designers - opening the .set file (typically 1024.set) the format of the Feedrate DRO's are shown as %4.2f - the 2f is the number of decimals shown - change this figure to 3f if that is the number of decimals you require.

Inputed or called for feedrate is implemented even though it is not shown in the window as such.

I know I have .005" /rev but would like to see it, I know the 5 is hiding behind the window, should I try another screen set?

Why not just do what Tweakie mentioned in his post?

That's easy for you to say, don't know how to do that. I just try to evaluate this stuff, why wouldn't have that been done as standard on the standard lathe screen, doesn't anyone want to see the feedrate?

Please take a screen shot of what you see, and I may be able to help out with this.

You're very welcome-

Hey Tweakie, 3 dec, places on the manual screen and the auto screen but when I press cycle it goes to 2 dec, places.
First off it would be nice to see the feed you asked for and second I am still having problems with the feed rate in inch/rev so I need to see when I ask for .015'/rev I only see .01
Thanks, Ray.
On an other topic, when I input in MDI g94 or g95 it switches with no problem but when I create a wizard that's in g94 I change it to g95 on the first line as a default like g20 g40 g90 etc I save it, load it and run it but it doesn't change to g95, if I put the g95 on the F line it changes, I have looked for info on how to make g95 modal on start up but can't find it.

Put G95 in the initialisation string on Diagnostics page.

Hi Ray,

It's all Daves's fault  ;D

Attached modified .lset file (I am no expert at this so hope it works OK).

Thanks guys I will try. As for the g95 /g94 If I edit the thread wizard in notepad and change the g94 to g95 on the top of the program it will not change, yet in MDI it does, so I have to change it in the diagnostics screen..

With a G95 in the code it should change as soon as you run the code, is it not doing that? And once changed it should stay that way unless you again call a G94 or restart Mach. However it is definitely better to have it in the initialisation string on General config as it will be changed as soon as you press Reset on starting Mach.

I will put it in the start up string because I would only use g95 but the stardard wizard put out g94  at the top of the program so I edit it to g95 but it doesn't change, its shows it in program. I can change back and forth in mdi, that's the least of my problems, going to try it again, god I can't be this rusty....

So you are saying it doesnt change when you actually run the code?

Now it works... the only i've done is purchase the licence for mach. G94 works good and feed rate looks good but g95 is over the place, first I run at .015"/rev it's fine the I played with the feed rate over ride up and down but it must be locked out because I can't see any change on the screen, run the wizard again and I get .004"/rev and can't change it, it's not me and it's not Mach3, I posted my threading test on DSPMc.
How do I change my wear offsets to go the logical way + larger - smaller.

Title: Re: I can only see 2 decimal places on feedrate window
Post by: Hood on January 26, 2013, 08:23:43 PM
To change the wear offsets to the opposite you need to modify the screenset to have two user DROs there instead of the wear DROs and then a Brain to do the inverting and writing to the correct DROs.
I helped someone out with  this a wee while back and should still have the Brain here, will look.

Ok here is the Brain, you will need to change the wear offset DROs on the lathe screenset to OEM 1234 and 1235.

Post by: dresda on January 26, 2013, 08:46:45 PM
Thanks Hood, why would the wear offsets be backwards, + is moving away from the the parts and - towards.
Check this one out: simple move, g95 run spindle or not (go figure that one out) g01 z2. f.015"/rev machine moves and shows .015"/rev in feed window, press + one time to increase feed but it doesn't, then after about 5 seconds the screen shows 5.015 but the feed rate doesn't change.
I see the default feed rate is 6."/min and .6"/rev. if I have .01"/rev in my feed rate window and with no moves commanded I can increase and decrease but click would go up or down by 5, 5.01, 10.01. 15.01"/rev
Hard to explain but some weird stuff going on.

I suppose you would have to ask Art  or whoever advised him it should be that way. Suppose it depends what way you think about it, if thinking of wear on the tip itself then it would be logical to say it is minus X amount rather than plus X amount.

Feed Override works fine on both my lathes. What version are you using? If you attach your xml I will look at it.

Hey Hood, I haven't tried a brain before so I pasted into C:/mach/brains and ticked the box in brains editor, hope that's right but it didn't make any difference + offset went - direction.

Here is the xml.

You also need to alter the DROs like I mentioned. Have just done it for you. One thing to note is the wear offsetDROs will not display the present set but rather the last entered so be aware of that.

Ok what version of Mach are you using?

.066 version
Title: Re: I can only see 2 decimal places on feedrate window
Post by: Hood on January 28, 2013, 03:47:25 AM
Ok try an older version, I have found a few problems with 066 and Turn, different things from what you are talking about but they may also be due to the version and your plugin. I have informed Brian but I wont be holding my breath for a fix, if it had been in the Mill side then it likely would have been fixed right away ;)
One of the things I have found is wear offsets get doubled for X if you are in Dia mode, another is sometimes DROs wont accept entry from keyboards.
Here is a link to 057, a version which seems to work well for me, you will have to copy\paste the link as the forum puts a  http:// in front of the link automatically, so just copy the text  and paste into your browser address bar then delete the http:// and then it should work, may take a few mins to start as the ftp site needs to sign you in.

Thanks Hood, I thought I was loosing my mind, had some funky thinks happening and you are right, I couldn't type in an offset, I thought it was my keyboard, still do. One minute am am using the keyboard arrows to jog ( don't ask about the RU Shuttle MPG from Russia) then the the keyboard arrows don't work, checked the hot keys, they seem OK, then I have to walk away, this thing sucked me in about a year ago on the mill and now it's doing it again, aaah

I am not saying that all your problems are because of 066 version of Mach but I did see some weird things in it with Turn, Used it plenty with Mill and its fine but not Turn.

Can I just load it over my 066 version, I just bought the licence will that be OK? Will I loose any settings?

Best to save your xml, plugins folder, brains folder and licence file in a safe location then if anything does go wrong you can place them back. Its unlikely anything will go wrong but you never know ;)
Oh and yes just install over the top of the current version.

OK, installed 057 version all looks good except for my pop out jog screen the jog cycle step and mode led's don't come on, can't select step amounts but can type them in, jog and step work but no led.
I will try and install it again

That may be DSMPC issue, not sure. It all depends how the plugin is working things.

Works on the 066 version. Is it me or what... can't seem to get any consistency, wish I had a machine just running Mach3 then would know for sure.
