I am installing Mach3 on a newly formated computer running windows 7 32 bit. As instructed I disconnected the CNC machine cables before running the installation. I did not create a custom profile because I already have one saved. I rebooted the computer and am trying to run the DriverTest.exe but when I double click the icon nothing happens (I am using the parallel port). Also, I don't see in the instructions when you are supposed to reattach the CNC machine.
Any help?

The main problem is solved. For some reason, even though I am logged in as an administrator, I had to right click and select "run as administrator". I still have the question about reconnection the machine though.

If Mach is installed then you should be able to connect things up.

Okay, everything is connected and the installation seems to have gone without a problem but the program doesn't seem to have taken on the settings from my custom profile (though it showed and I selected it in the Session Profile window), and the machine isn't responding in any way.

I ran the configuration check facility to see if that would tell me anything and it reported no problems (though the motor check only said "Enabled motors only are checked" and "End of motor check".

I am sorry I am not following what your issue is, have you tried hooking the machine up and starting Mach?

Hood,
Problem resolved. I was starting the program from the shortcut on the desktop, not realizing that it was opening the default profile. I still have one question though. The manual suggests creating a "shortcut to Mach3 with your profile name in the command line, as shown in Fugure 2-7", but doesn't say how to do that. I just don't have enough PC savvy.

Ok right click on the current shortcut on the desktop and select properties. In the target box click at the end of the name and use the backspace arrow to delete the Mach3Mill part and then type in the name of your profile and that is it. You have to make sure that you keep the spacing correct though, see pic showing there is a space between the exe and / also one between the p and the profile name.

Thanks. Hopefully, everything will work as it should.
