Title: Sanyo Denki BL Super servos

Hi

I just got myself 4 Sanyo Denki BL Super servos for free, inkl drives.

I just briefly looked trough the manuals , and it looks like they can be used for positioning control by negative command pulses and positive, they also have encoders for feedback.

Does anyone know if this equipment is possible to run under Mach 3?

I am planning to substitude my steppers for these servos.

They used to be controlled by an Omron PLC.

If the drives have position control, they should work. There will be several parameters that have to be set.

Example:
Position control
Signal type
Pulses per motor revolution

They will run circles around your stepper setup!

Thats good to hear.

The motors should be more than powerful enogh,they are 720 w 220v single fase ac servos with a max continious torque of 30 kg-cm and
constant torque of 8,2 kg-cm/arms.  Dont know the specs in Nm.

The spin at max of 3000 rpm, and the encoder has 2000 step/rev.

Anyone has any idea how to connect this?

Do I run the printer port cable that i use for my stepper BOB onto the amplifiers command pulse terminals?

If it helps,I could porpably scan the connectoin diagram frrom the manual, and post it here.

So the drive uses one pin to step the motor foward and back based on + or- input?

Sneaky8, ill see if I can get my hands on a scanner, and e-mail them to you.


Dennis:The mototr can be used for position control or velocity control, based on the status of one of the input pins.

It hs 2 input pins for negative command pulse and 2 for positive comand pulse, but the manual says that it can be controlled either with  either 2 puls-trains, one for each diration or with one for pule and one for direction.
I am not sure about the excact conection, but maby this becomes clear when I get my hands on a scanner.

I have an old Hp scanner but there are no drivers available for Win xp

i have a mahine with these drives on it, and we have a fault on it , so its never run for some time now,hopefully it will aid me to find the fault.

Got it!  So these are regular drives that take CW +/- and CCW +/- .  The drives that I have can run both modes CW/CCW and step/dir so I didn't look in to making a cuircuit for the CW/CCW inputs.  Maybe your drives can be configured to run step/dir if not, then you need one of these or similar chips here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_4000_series_integrated_circuits.  You just need a IC to switch pins based on the direction pin output from your BOB.

I got the time and oportunity to scan the connection diagram, so hopefully someone could take a look at this and give me somhints on hoe to connect this to my paralellport or my BOB.

They do not show the internals. This is from the PZ series documentation. I would image yours is the same. It has a differential line receiver input. If you have to run long signal wires the differential line driver is the way to go other wise use the open collector option shown.

You will need some logic like this to get you drives doing with Step/Dir signals.

I have some stepper drives with the same CW/CCW interface...

I also would like to know how to utilize MACH 3 with them....

...since MACH 3 only seem to allow one step, and one direction, per axis...

don't want to attempt slaving to fool it into driving one axis...

My servos are now up and running, I just connected them directly to the printerport.
1 wire for dir and one for step, the other to conections in the pulse train i conected to the paralellports ground.

pleeease.....what where the terminals labeled on your drive that the step and direction wires connected to ? (cw+/ccw+)?

Grounded the rest?

Pin 1-2-3-4 on Cn1 1 and 3 beeing step and dir and 2-4 beeing ground

Dont have the paralellport diagram in front of me, so i can not tell you right now if 1 or 3 is step and the other one dir.,but ill see if i can find it
