Hi everybody
i have had my MDF special up and running now for about 6 months and have had great fun learning cnc routing and had some successful 2 and 2.5 D projects.
this weekend my machine crashed duing a run............
reset and ran again............crashed
i then found that when moving the carrage with the keyboard arrow keys all was fine until all 3 axis were moved simultaneously then bam..... pc crashed.
everything is fine when rapid moves are made on 1 or 2 axis
but as soon as all three axis moves are made it always crashes the pc
im hoping someone out there has had this problem and can help
thanks

Only thing I can think of is noise is killing the computer.

Could it be that too much current is drawn by the break out board from the parallel port.
Do you have a PCI board to test?
It can crash the computer.

Hi Dave,
My advice would be to try a different PC (Mach3 places a lot of strain on the Windows OS in creating the output pulse train and if the PC cannot cope it will crash). An alternative would be to use an external motion controller such as the Smooth Stepper.
Tweakie.

Thanks for all the advice. As usual it was my own fault i had wired in some pc cooling fans to the power supply cables for the spare sata hard drive cable.
strange how it had been fine for 6 months and then failed (unless the pc power supply is giving out)
Disconnected the fans and wired in a standalone 12v transformer so all is well again.
