Title: LAZYCAM HELP PLEASE
Post by: belin on October 13, 2012, 07:11:44 AM
another one of a million questions i will be asking...

ok for example....

lets say ive created a basic JOB layout in something like...PHOTODRAW or PRINTSHOP ....just a TEXT and CLIPART outline and i want to engrave that onto a flat surface material....just engraving....

so how would i go about importing that JOB into Lazycam so as to create a G CODE for it...

ive tried and Lazycam only appears to give a choice of

VDRILL...RASTER...SPIRAL or IMAGE TRACE

not i obviously thought IMAGE TRACE would be the way to go

but it only seems to select certain parts of the JOB...

I know....im missing something...BUT WHAT

Note that use of using an image is not covered in the manual that I wrote. The reason to not include anything is because I found that LC's use of an image file left a lot to be desired. WYSIWYG.....
Feel free to explore LC  but suggest using / purchasing a different program for images to gcode.

A much better choice would be to use a vector drawing program like CorelDraw or Inkscape (free) for your design. Using Vectors instead of raster images will give much better results.

There is another option and that is using CopyCat. It has it's place in that you just use a camera to
trace or pick what you want off the image and generates the code as you go.

Just a thought on the matter,
