Title: trying to get started... usual newbie problems to sort out.
Post by: mdonovan on September 27, 2012, 09:28:21 AM
getting this when I try to download mach3.0 from the artsoft download page:

"Gateway Anti-Virus Alert

This request is blocked by the SonicWALL Gateway Anti-Virus Service. Name: Suspicious#banker.2 (Trojan)"

So what's the deal? as far as I can tell artsoft is legit. Bunches of people over at cNCzone use it and there are bunches of screens and code shared all over the place.

I'm real eager to try out mach3 and to buy one of those ethernet motion controllers from Poland. It's a bit slow so far as I don't know pOlish so interpreting the web site is a little rough.

any way to get pricing and delivery info in english?

Not familar with your anti-virus software but usualy it can be altered by the user to define sites that should be trusted and downloading permitted.

IF I remember correctly the trick Art used in creating the Mach3 Driver is based on an old hackers trick to gain access to the OS and take control.  A good AV may see this as a legit virus BUT it is not in this case.

There are 1000's of users that have done the download and as far as I know no one as even caught a cold much less a virus(;-).

BUT it is your choice, (;-) TP

mdonovan,
Not sure if you are just wanting to try Mach or plan on actualy using it. If the latter you should not be using a computer with Anti virus software installed on it when running a machine . The computer should be dedicated to CNC.

The software may be confused or misinformed about Mach, but then, the user can always overide the software. ;)
Why is it saying not to download the software?  ???
