Title: Scandinvent C4 running Mach 3 controller
Post by: RR Stone on July 17, 2012, 11:44:29 AM
Hi my name is Richard
I am new to CNC controlled machines.
I have recently bought a Scandinvent C4 ( stone router ) which is running Mach 3 controller. I need assistance as the program seems to have lost some settings and won't work at all.
Scandinvent won't help me due to dispute with previous owner...unless I pay them £7500!
Im based in the UK ( North ) and would appreciate if someone can help/ get involved. Happy to pay the going rate!

When you say it wont work at all what exactly do you mean?
Will Mach open?
Will it load code?

Thanks for the reply.
I'm actually away this week, so not able to get in front of the machine, however the computer boots up fine. Mach 3 loads OK as far as I can tell, although apparently it has lost some settings ( not sure why ). I'm not able to establish if it's these settings are the reason for stopping machine from working, or if there's another more fundamental problem.
I think it will load a G code, but literally nothing happens.
Will be able to provide more detailed answer next week. Let me know if you have any other questions, that may help solve this issue.
Thanks very much for your time.
Richard

Ok really need to know if you can get Mach out of reset and also if you can move any axis via the jog keys.
It may just be a case of loading a backup xml to get you back up and running.
Did it ever work for you or was it bought in that state?

Hi Hood,
We cannot move any of the axis via the jog keys or the joystick.
we can load g codes into mach no problem.
the data we know it lost was the ports and pins settings. We have managed to get these from another C4 but it hasn't solved the issue.
The machine functioned when we bought it, however it would run into its mechanical stops from day 1.
it then lost all tool settings for no apparent reason, after these we inputted again, the next morning it would not move at all and the settings had gone.
Many thanks
Richard

Ok I will really need a few things, first is your xml and also I may need some pics of the control electronics but that can come later.
How does the computer connect to the control, is it via the paralle port or by some other means such as USB or Ethernet or possibly a PCI card of some sort?
