Title: uln2003 controller
Post by: Dude22 on June 21, 2012, 02:43:10 PM
Hi everyone, this is my first post and I hope I put it in the correct place; If not I apologise.  My question is, will Mach3 work with my uln2003 controller, Here is a link to the schematic:  http://www.eleccircuit.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/uln2003-control-stepper-motor-by-parallel-port.jpg  I have this working with an older windows 98 dos cnc program called Turbo CNC.  But I would like to use something newer and better... Like Mach3.  So please let me know if Mach3 is compatible with my driver.

Any idea what kind of signals your drive requires, ie Step/Dir or CW/CCW or ..........

That site gets blocked by my antivirus, says it has a blackhole exploit kit.

You may be able to use the MaxNC mode with your drives, see the gif attached.

??? ??? ??? I don't know why your antivirus thinks it is bad... I have visited that website at least 200 times during the build of my CNC and have never had any problems.  I do however like you wiring schematic that you attached and I think that should work with the uln2003's.  How would I config MACH3 to work with that???

This is what my AV throws up when I visit that site, possibly your AV isnt picking it up or possibly mine is throwing a false warning.
Anyway onto your question, the pic in the last post is from the Mach FTP site which shows which pins are for which when in MaxNC mode. To put Mach into that mode go to config menu then Ports and pins then to the right you will see the two different Max modes, choose the NC one. You will not be able to configure the pins further, whats in the diag is what you need to do.

I use Kaspersky and it went into protection mode and it was unhappy with that link as well.

I would proceed with caution if your system doesn't have some sort of protection.

Above is a scan of the site by virus total... weird, it does not pick up anything...
