Title: Importance of Non-Intgrated Vodeo Card

I set up a Dell GX280 (2.8 GHZ Pentium 4 Processor / 4 GB RAM) to run MACH3.
It has on board video and MACH3 seems to work okay with it.
Is it absolutely mandatory that a non-integrated video card be used?
I'm guessing that the theory is not to use up the processor capacity for video processing, correct?

If it works ok then its fine.
The problem was that, especially on older computers, the graphics card would interfere with the pulse train and you would see spikes and thus get rough motion and likely lost steps.
Run the driver test and see what it looks like.

Thanks Hood,  I'll just pick up a video card they are cheap enough, why ask for problems?

I am using the Dell GX280 too (actually I am using two. One for Vcarve and one to control a Camaster Stinger)  and do not have any issues I am aware from the viewpoint of a 'newby'. Let me know what video card you wind up using and I may do the same just for fun.

Probably just going to look on Ebay for a cheap PCI Express 256MB.  That should be more that enough.

I was given one that was low profile but it still was too long to fit in the available bus.
