havent ran the mill for awhile so i needed to do a simple job and the machine moves half of what the dro says it moves. plus and error came up with safe Z turned off, ignoring safe z moves. not sure what changed. maybe one of you guys can point me in the right direction. thanks tom

well i got the safe Z fixed. did a simple circular pocket in NF .5 dia. 200 deep .1875 endmill. dia. came to .335, .100 in depth.

Sounds to me like your steps per unit are off, Probably best place to start off.

you beat me to the response. i got to read in the book and reset the steps, well it took care of the prob. didnt even no it was there. i got this second hand and it was all set up. ran great for couple years and then this happens. so i guess i'll know now how to fix it if it happens again. question is why does it happen in the first place?

I'm just guessing but it could be the xml file was damaged or some such, you might want to check/confirm all your settings.
